Air Shows

Airplane engines thundering above you as the pilot pulls his aircraft into a loop take your breath away. This is the experience of many who have attended air shows. An air show is an exhibition of aircraft and the aviators flying skills. They are most often organized at airfields where there will be a display of airplanes and helicopters on the ground as well as an aerial display. Air shows may be held to raise funds for charity or may simply be held on military bases for entertainment purposes.

Air shows began even before world war two and involved air races coving long distances over many days.

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Fly-In and Airshow

Billed as “The World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration,” AirVenture Oshkosh is certainly the world’s best-known fly-in and airshow event. It began in 1953 and now boasts more than 600,000 attendees. For many participants, the most exciting part of the event is flying to AirVenture and camping beside their airplanes.
