The AsiaPacific region is proving to be one of the fastest growing markets in the defense and aerospace industry with an ever increasing international presence. The Langkawi Air Show serves as a platform for top level defense and government officials from all over the world to gather with the purpose of initiating business deals, forging partnerships and strengthening networks in the aerospace and defense industry. Exhibitors will be showcasing the very latest technology in networks-centric warfare equipment, unmanned aerial vehicles, new generation aircraft, aerial reconnaissance platforms, aircrew training solutions and maintenance, repair and overhaul technologies, and more.

In 1991 Langkawi Island became the location for testing light and experimental aircraft due to the fact that aircraft could fly unhampered by heavy air traffic. Langkawi Air Show has grown to be rated as an air show that cannot be missed by anyone involved in the aerospace business and draws hundred of exhibitors and thousands of visitors. Reportedly, business contracts in excess of US$ 575 million were negotiated during the 2005 Langkawi Air Show.
