The Learjet NXT is designed to fit into the mid-sized business-jet product range between the Learjet 60XR and the Challenger 300, to fill a need in the current market. Rather than being an adaptation of an existing aircraft, the Learjet NXT is being designed from scratch based on feedback from customers as to what they want in a mid-size category business jet. Features of the Learjet NXT will be a large, comfortable cabin designed to carry eight passengers and allowing for stand-up height. The transcontinental range will be 5,556 kilometers with a full passenger load and a maximum cruise speed of Mach 0.82. Leading international aerospace manufacturers will be selected as suppliers to the Learjet NXT project, which will be based at the Learjet plant in Wichita, Kansas. All design, test flights and manufacture will take lace in Wichita.
Bill Lear introduced the world’s first business jet in 1963, causing an aviation revolution as travelers were captivated by the beauty, power and agility of these high-speed aircraft. Bombardier Aerospace acquired Learjet Inc. in 1990 and continued to promote the brand’s legacy by launching eight fuel efficient, high performance aircraft. Bombardier Learjet airplanes have claimed their space in the sky as they climb and cruise with unmatched speed above crowded airways and bad weather, with incomparable ease and in unbeatable style. Bombardier Aerospace continues to live up to its commitment to produce technologically advanced, safe, reliable and aesthetically pleasing airplanes.
There is no doubt that Learjet is a well respected name with an excellent reputation in corporate aviation. There is every reason to believe that the new Learjet NXT will further cement Bombardier Learjet’s position as a leader in business aircraft innovation.
