Extra Aircraft‘s newest aerobatic airplane, the Extra 300SHP, will be unveiled in the United States at this year’s EAA AirVenture Oshkosh to be held from July 24 – 30. The one of a kind aircraft was specifically designed for Goulian and will feature a 350HP Thunderbolt, Reno 580 engine. The EA-300SHP offers better aerobatic performance than its predecessor, the Extra EA-300S.

Renowned aerobatic pilot Michael Goulian worked closely with Extra Aircraft to design a plane that remained true to the Extra’s classic look and maneuverability. New to the EA-300S is a newly designed tail and cowling. The plane is 100 pounds lighter than the previous model and has a Center of Gravity (CG) further aft. The new CG should provide additional maneuverability. Extra Aircraft engineers wanted to enhance Goulian’s ability to perform tumbling figures. Both Goulian and Walter Extra, the company’s founder, will be on hand at the Oshkosh air show.
