The 2008 Advanced World Aerobatic Championships (AWAC) are almost upon us and airplane fans who are able to attend are already getting excited at the prospect. This year the battle of the best will be held at Pendleton Airport where the public can freely attend to enjoy the spectacular air shows that competitors will be putting on.

AWAC 2008 Inc. has been working in collaboration with the Pendelton Air Museum to ensure that this year’s aerobatic championships are everything they should be. Regional and National US air show performers will be swelling the ranks of championship performers to provide a sensational air show that simply cannot be beaten. Airplane fans can bring their families along for a day of absolutely amazing aerial displays that will simply astound them. Spectators will be able to find a spot on a fenced in ramp area that affords an excellent view of the air show. They will also find plenty of food concession stands offering a variety of yummy treats should they find the need to tantalize their taste buds during the show. Before, after or during the show, they can also visit the Pendleton Air Museum, which has been working hard to preserve the civil and military aviation heritage of Pendleton, Oregon, for some time now.

This year will see the 8th installment of this spectacular annual event that brings the greatest pilots in the world together in one location where they can strut their stuff, amaze the crowds and earn some great prizes and a companionship title. The entire event will start on July 31st with the pre-championship flights, but the really meaty flying will only take place during the actual championship, which will run from August 2 to 9. The gates will be opening at 11 am and the flying shows will run from 1 to 3 pm. The entire event will climax in a lovely banquet that may be attended by all registered attendees and anyone else lucky enough to get a ticket. If this sounds like your cup of tea and you’d like to be more involved, you can sponsor the event or volunteer with a number of tasks during the course of the championship. Donations are also welcome. Either way, make sure that you don’t miss out on this spectacular event!
