Hey, I just discovered this forum, glad to see women pilots involved!
I'm Meg, I'm 23 and a licensed private pilot with just over 300 hours. I am based near Sacramento, CA. I fly and maintain my own bird, a Cessna 150. MUCH cheaper than renting, and I get to fly alot more often. Maintenance can be a pain sometimes, but you sure learn alot from it. Gotta hand it to you ladies that are just learning to fly, way to go!!! I know how tough it is, and expensive...but it is sooo worth it when you finish. Have to put in my plug for the Ninety Nines women pilots club. Girls, they offer scholarships!! Contact your local chapter to see what they have to offer, can be anywhere from $500-$3000 or more put towards your flight training. Really great group of people, doing some cool activities like air races, flyouts, airmarking (ask me about this one!), etc. Anyways, I'm looking to meet some new friends, girls and guys, and talk about flying! Tailwinds, Meg |

Hi Meg,
I'm Kevin. I am a cardiology fellow in Florida. I've been flying on and off since 16 and am starting to shop around for my first airplane when I graduate next year. I have about 350 hours and an instrument rating. In looking for an airplane I was thinking that most of my flights are relatively short training flights or pleasure day trips. My thought was to buy a small plane that fits most of my missions and just rent a complex airplane when traveling greater distances or on those occasions when speed matters. I would be interested in hearing more about your experience owning your 150. I am thinking a relatively low cost way for me to start would be to purchase an IFR model. That way I could fly anytime I want without regard for the rental schedule. Take care and happy landings. Kevin |

Hi Meg !
Welcome to the world of aircraft ownership. It's the most expensive addiction on the planet. I suppose one has to decide if the plane is a time-builder....or your "baby". Unfortunately, I spoil my dogs....I spoil my cats...and I do the same with my M20C. Thank God I have a very understaning wife....and banker! Happy Flying! C-FRJI
