Hey. I'm was wondering if anyone knows anything about the Civil Air Patrol. Is it good to be in? What exactly is it? What do they do? Any information will be appreciated. Thanks.

The CAP is a JOKE! they are a bunch of 14 year olds, yelling at others, they wish they can fly, but they never do, They march around airports, thinking they are in the real miltary, I am an air traffic controler, and there is an cap squad that practice, and we go on the cat walk after closing, and drop water balloons off the top. Please dont do it!

I dont know who the person who says the CAP is a bunch of crap, he is not a pilop, and does not know anything about history. during the 2nd. wotld war the CAP stood guard on the East coast of the USA and sank a few German subs, so dont say anything about the CAP around me, i flew with the CAP back in the 1960, and they do a great job.

Before a argument starts. I think that er_braun is thinking of air cadets not CAP.

Thumbs down

He is talking about the Civil Air Patrol. The unit at our airport is a bunch of kids that think they are something special, and alls they are is boy scouts that like airplanes. I'm not familiar with what they did in the past, but I'm sure it wasn't a bunch of brats doing it. The one thing that I like about them, is they keeps two miles of highway near my house clean, and if the field isn't clean, they complain to mack, so I don't have to worry about it. Someone also told me that they paid a couple of CAP kids to clean thier hanger for $10. Of all of them that I have met, only one acctually had a real flying lesson through them, and as of yet, I haven't heard of one person getting thier ppl or any ratings. So my advice to all of you that are interested is........don't do it, it is a joke. You will be boyscouts that get to clean up after pilots, and nothing good will come of it.
