A good landing is one you can walk away from. A GREAT landing is when you can use the plane again tomorrow.

I logged onto Airbus' website (I thought that anyone would have it, they would) and apart from speculation on behalf of the media and other sites there does not seem to be that much information on it.

This is probably because the A380 has only just had its first testflight (but then again you would expect there to be some information on it).

Even the books I have still detail it as being an aircraft that has not been built yet; the weights and range are way, way different from what they are now...

...the book I have here says, "...due to be launched in 1999 it would enter service in 2004."

Forgive the whole cryptic response before. I have actually bothered to do a little research and have found this (still fairly prelimary though).

The Airbus A380 has a maximum cruising speed of Mach 0.88 (580kts) and a 'long range' cruise speed of Mach 0.85 (560kts). The service ceiling is 43,000ft.

Hope this is helpful.

Can anyone tell me the purpose of the A380. I watched a dicovery channel show on it tonight, while its a mammoth of an aircraft what is the purpose of such a large people hauler. They said it cost over 10 billion dollard to design and build and have to sell at least 250 of them to break even, so far they have only sold 145 and this aircraft has been being built for 10 years. Also it said only 5 or 6 airports in the world can handle it they others have to make expensive overhauls. My questions are is it going to be around long enough to make any difference or bankrupted airbus?
its is going to be like the euro-fighter built up to be a really good aircraft and it may be but for some reason like the euro-fighter they seem to be hanving trouble getting the darn thing off the ground and delivered?
is there really going to be enough airports willing to spend the money to upgrade?
or is boeing right the future will hold seeing more regional airports smaller thats why they havent built anything to compete with the A380?
I dont work for any airlines or airplane manufacturers and dont really have anything it it one way or another, but I was just curious why anyone in the world would spend 10 billion dollars on the commercial aircraft that doesnt seem to have much hope. Thanks

fact: a380s are mammals.

fact: a380s can hold like a million people

fact: a380s can like totally flip out when they turn on afterburners.

fact: my uncle like totally got one from his airline company and like goes plaecs and picks people up with it, but he calls it a airbus.
