The problem is, I have to write about the airplane industry and I am interested about:
1)Organisation and structure of the markets - firm's boundaries - factors which define the size and the range of activities of the firm, factors which define the level of vertical integration, contract relations and the shifting of some activities to underexecutors. - concentration of the sellers - factors defining the horizontal integration and the number and sizes of the firms. - differentiation of the products - sources of differentiation, types, dynamics. - entrance conditions - factors determining the market power of the firms but discouraging the potential competitors; endogenic and exogenic factors of the entrance barriers, the role of the increasing of the production powers, the role of long-run excluding contracts, the role of the proliferation of the product, the role of advertising, the role of the irretrievable costs and the size economies for dicouraging the entrance. 2) How the structure influences the conduct of the firms and the effectiveness of the markets - the role of the non-price competition, of the standartisation, of the firms' strategy - how the concentration determines the prices and quantities in the branch - regulation and deregulation of the branches - criteria for effectiveness of the markets and especially of the oligopoly markets with differentiated product - regarding not only the price and the quantity but tha innovations, the product's variations, the quality, the institutional determinants. 3) How the conduct of the firms defines the structure and the effectiveness of the markets - the role of the scientific-research and technological activity of the firms - strategies of the firms regarding the existing and the potential competitors Well, that is my task briefly. I would be glad if someone could help me. |

A majority of the information you are requesting and the questions you are asking would be better directed at someone who is inside the industry (either in the commercial airline industry istelf or within one of the manufacturers, the FAA etc.) as they would have a greater span of knowledge and be able to answer your questions more easily.
