Embraer

Embraer is based in San José dos Campos, Brazil. Though it began as a government initiative in 1969, Embraer became a privately owned company in 1994. As of 2006, the airplane manufacturer employed 17,000 people, mostly in Brazil. Embraer sells commercial and executive jets. Embraer also supplies military aircraft to various countries, including the EMB 145 AEW&C, an Early Warning and Control aircraft.

Embraer works to develop and adapt aircraft, bringing in new technology that will provide value in the way of reducing costs or creating greater comfort, safety and reliability. An interesting use of technology is Embraer’s Virtual Reality Center. This allows better lay out of 3D arrangements of components and allows drawings to be created quickly.
