Mooney Unveils New Airplane
Mooney will deliver the first of their new M20 TN Acclaim in the fourth quarter of 2006, their first new plane in more than ten years. The single-engine aircraft cruises at 230 knots, the fastest Mooney plane ever produced. It has a ceiling of 25,000 feet, but can exceed 200 knots even at a lower cruising altitude of 10,000 feet. This makes the Acclaim the fastest airplane in its class.
The Acclaim will replace Mooney’s Bravo. The glass cockpit is equipped with Garmin’s G1000 avionics package. Air conditioning and a flight into known icing package are optional. The Acclaim is powered by a 280-horsepower Teledyne Continental TSIO-550-G turbo-normalized engine with twin turbochargers and dual intercoolers. The propeller is a three-bladed Hartzell. Optional 130-gallon long-range fuel tanks allow the Acclaim to fly up to 1,615 nautical miles at 200 knots cruise speed. List price is $495,000.
