Book Your Ticket to the Dayton Air Show

Every year the Dayton International Airport in Dayton, Ohio, is flooded with thousands of people as they attend the Dayton Air Show. A more appropriate venue could not have been chosen. The city was home to the Wright Brothers and so it was in this very area that the first successful flight in a powered plane by Orville and Wilbur Wright took place. This exciting historical aspect of the city’s history is often detailed in a flight exhibition that is provided by the Wright Company.

However, this is only one small aspect to a fabulous annual event. The Dayton Air Show is generally recognized as being one of the country’s top aviation events. It is here that the world’s greatest airplanes and pilots gather together to provide an awe-inspiring display of the advancements in the aeronautics industry for the general public. A wide variety of airplanes – both old and new – are put on display on the ground and in the air. The event takes place over the weekend in mid-July and is essentially a celebration of Dayton’s rich aviation heritage. So what can you expect to see this year? One of the highlights of the 2008 Dayton Air Show is the F-22 Raptor Demonstration. But the excitement doesn’t end there. You can expect to see F-18 Super Hornets, F-16 Fighting Falcons, the C-17 Globemaster III, an ancient WWII B-25J “Panchito” and an Apache Longbow take to the skies. You will also get to see a number of teams in action, including the Starfighters Jet Demonstration Team, the AeroShell Aerobatic Team, the Collaborators Formation Aerobatic Team and the Misty Blues All-Women Skydiving Team. The U.S. Air Force and the Navy will be demonstrating their flight history with an interesting variety of aircraft in the Heritage Flight and the Legacy Flight displays. Famous faces to look out for include Sean D. Tucker, Bill Stein, Rob Reider and Danny Clisham.

But the fun and excitement doesn’t end there. Not only will there be a wide variety of interesting aircraft on the ground for young and old to get up close and personal with, but fans can climb aboard a real UH-1H “Huey” helicopter for the ride of their lives. The Kid’s Hanger ensures that little children are well cared for while their older counterparts enjoy the rest of the show. There will be plenty of great food on offer and a variety of different seating options are available. So don’t waste another minute, book your ticket for the Dayton Air Show and make the most of this spectacular annual event!
