Boeing's 787 Dreamliner Moves Forward - Airplanes
Boeing has announced that they've released twenty-five percent of the documentation needed for manufacturers to begin building their new 787 Dreamliner. The largest of the aircraft's pieces, the wing skins and fuselage can now be built. Final design plans have yet to be completed.
There are currently 393 orders for the 787 which Boeing expects to deliver in 2008. The Dreamliner will be much more efficient than comparably sized planes, burning 20 percent less fuel and generate lower emissions. Living up to its name, passengers will enjoy more room, larger windows, better lighting, and cleaner cabin air. Takeoffs and landings will be quieter as well. With presales of the plane surpassing $55 billion, the Dreamliner is already the most lucrative plane launch ever.
