Be Sure to Catch the Indianapolis Air Show
Aircraft lovers living in or near Indianapolis simply have to make sure that they get themselves to Mt Comfort Airport between 22 and 24 August. This is when the 12th annual Indianapolis Air Show is scheduled to take place, and this year’s show promises to be better than ever!
The 2008 Indianapolis Air Show promises to provide fun and entertainment for the whole family. While there will definitely be an undeniable focus on virtually anything with wings, all members of the family will find a way to while away their time – even if they are not such big fans of aviation. Family activities include a truck show, golf outing, balloon-a-thon, car show, Indiana war memorials and a photo contest. There will also be fierce competition to determine who the USS Indianapolis Survivors are, while the USS Indianapolis Museum will provide plenty of interesting historical articles. The American Military Heritage Foundation will also play its part and fans can also expect to enjoy watching the SubRegatta, the Roberts Indy Airshow Experience and Navy Week. You will also be given the opportunity to learn all about the sinking of USS Indianapolis and cheer on the Wings of Angels’ Motorcycle Ride.
Of course, at the end of the day, it is all about the aircraft and there will be plenty of both static displays as well as well-thought out air shows to keep you entertained. Some of the things you can expect to find on the field are a Grissom KC-135 Flight Deck/Boom Pod, a World War aircraft museum and much more. Other airplanes you can expect to see on the ground include: a LifeLine helicopter, RC-12 Guardrail, SH-60B Seahawk, T-34C Turbo Mentor, T-45 Goshawk, MV-22 Osprey, AH-64 Apache, ATR-42, Cessna 208B Caravan, Cessna Mustang, Cessna CJ, C-130 Hercules and an A-10 Thunderbolt. There will also be plenty of in-flight demonstrations – most of which will be performed by the military. The US Air Force Combat Command F-22A Demonstration Team will no doubt steal the show with their precision aerial maneuvers in their striking F-22A Raptors. There will also be a whole selection of other aircraft, both new and old, taking to the skies and wowing crowds. So why wait another second? Book your ticket for the 2008 Indy Air Show today!
