Virgin Takes to the Skies with Palm Oil
Even though Virgin Atlantic has become the first commercial airline to successfully fly a commercial jet that was partially powered by a biofuel mixture of babassu and coconut oil, much debate has been sparked by this spectacular endeavor. Sir Richard Branson, who is the President of the airline, told the press that the flight was a small step towards developing new fuels that could hopefully assist in reducing the carbon emissions that are released into the air by the aviation industry.

It is a legal requirement in the United States that all amateur built and homebuilt aircraft must be inspected and then registered with the Federation Aviation Administration (FAA) before an Airworthiness Certificate can be issued. This is a thorough, and sometimes painstaking, process which can be drastically simplified for the builder if the aircraft kit is on the FAA Eligible Amateur-Built Aircraft Kits list. On 21 February 2008, Groen Brothers Aviation, Inc. announced that the FAA has confirmed that their SparrowHawk III gyroplane kit meets the necessary specifications to be included on the Eligible Amateur-Built Aircraft Kits list.
Border to Border Air Show in Douglas
The City of Douglas together with the historic Gadsden Hotel in Arizona, USA, are hosting the second annual Border to Border Air Show, which will take place at the Douglas Municipal Airport on 15 March 2008. The event will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the opening of Douglas Municipal Airport and everyone is invited to join in the fun and excitement. Entrance to the Border to Border Air Show is free to the public, with proceeds from various events benefiting the Cochise College Aviation Program.
New Hawker 750 Certified
The Hawker aircrafts have been extremely successful in the aviation industry, with the Hawker 800 series being very popular. Expanding the Hawker range and allowing customers a choice according to their needs and specifications, led to the design and production of the Hawker 750. On 8 February 2008, the Hawker 750 was certified and Hawker Beechcraft Corporation has proudly begun filling orders for their customers. The Hawker 750 has brought a fresh and economical new aircraft to aviation.
Visit Hill Aerospace Museum
Museums are a visual and interactive way of documenting and preserving history. They tell stories of heroism, bravery and courage, which may not have been known if museums did not exist. The people who take care of the museums share the same goals: to educate the public, document the road from past to present, and bring honor to those who have paved the way to change and the future. To preserve aviation history and the artifacts that have survived as reminders to aviation pioneers, the Hill Aerospace Museum was founded in the year 1981.
