First F-35 STOVL Aircraft Has Successful First Flight
Just recently the first F-35B STOVL aircraft took to the skies for its first successful test flight. The short takeoff/vertical landing (STOVL) jet took off from the Fort Worth Naval Air Station in Texas on June 12 and the flight lasted about 45 minutes. The test aircraft was piloted by test pilot Graham Tomlinson and the flight marked the second stage in the development of the next-generation of fighting aircraft.
Hungarian International Air Show and Military Display
Aviation enthusiasts in Hungary are no doubt thrilled at the news that the Hungarian International Air Show and Military Display will take place on 16 to 17 August 2008 at the Kecskemet Air Base. Usually a biennial (every two years) event, which should only take place again in 2009, this special edition of the Hungarian International Air Show and Military Display is in honor of the 70th anniversary of the formation of the Hungarian Air Force and the 160th anniversary of the Hungarian Armed Forces.
C-130 AMP H2 Completes 100th Flight
Ever since Boeing was awarded the AMP contract in 2001, they have been hard at work ensuring that the military’s C-130 fleet meets the required standards. It would certainly seem that they are successful in reaching this goal as the company was able to announce that the H2 aircraft completed its 100th flight on 9 June 2008. This is the halfway milestone in the H2′s flight-test program and it would seem that the aircraft is ahead of its development schedule.
Supersonic Jet Market Booming
They may be well beyond the scope of the average businessman, but supersonic business jets are fast becoming hot property. With the ever-increasing demand for fast business jets, the market for small supersonic jets has exploded. Most of the major aircraft companies are gearing up for the demand by developing their own range of small super-fast jets and, despite massive price tags, it would seem consumers are lining up to purchase them.

2008 ILA Air Show Sets New Records
The International Aerospace Exhibition always provides the public with a rather impressive display of this sector of the industry. This year’s exhibition in Berlin was no different. Approximately 241 000 people streamed through the doors to see what amazing new innovations were on display. While that was only slightly less people than two years ago, it would seem that there was quite a big increase in the number of trade visitors this year.
Monitoring Of Aircraft Wiring To Be Improved
Ensuring safety in flight has always been a full-time job and a lot of avionics systems have been dedicated to the monitoring of navigation, communication and other essential flight systems. Unfortunately aircraft wiring can usually only be checked on the ground, which means pilots get little warning if something goes wrong with their wiring during a flight.
Eclipse Aviation Launches New Single-Engine Jet
The single-jet market got even larger recently when Eclipse Aviation announced plans to bring the new Eclipse 400 single-engine jet to market. Despite heavy competition, the aircraft is still turning heads. It is a production version of the Eclipse Concept Jet that was displayed at EAA AirVenture last year. There is a lot more to this little jet than meets the eye and those acquainted with the data are eager to see this aircraft take to the skies.
Book Your Ticket to the Dayton Air Show
Every year the Dayton International Airport in Dayton, Ohio, is flooded with thousands of people as they attend the Dayton Air Show. A more appropriate venue could not have been chosen. The city was home to the Wright Brothers and so it was in this very area that the first successful flight in a powered plane by Orville and Wilbur Wright took place. This exciting historical aspect of the city’s history is often detailed in a flight exhibition that is provided by the Wright Company.
