Dakotas Grounded Due To New Air Regulations
The legendary Douglas DC-3 Dakota aircraft has seen its fair share of important events and activities. The aircraft, which was originally designed in 1935 as a luxury civilian aircraft, was drafted by the military during World War II. During that time it served a vital function during D-Day by parachuting allied troops into occupied Europe. After a few years of war-time service the aircraft went back to its original role as a civilian aircraft and it has been maintained and was kept in service until now.

First C-27J Spartan JCA Completes its Maiden Flight
Alenia North America proudly announced the successful maiden flight of their first C-27J Spartan at the Alenia facility in Turin, Italy, on Wednesday June 18. The company is a subsidiary of Alenia Aeronautica and the aircraft under development is being created for the U.S. Army’s Joint Cargo Aircraft (JCA) program.
Second Tejas Enjoys Successful Maiden Flight
The Bangalore light combat aircraft (LCA) known as the Tejas not only enjoyed a successful maiden flight when it zipped through the skies over Bangalore on Monday evening, but it managed to become the second Tejas aircraft to break the sound barrier. The supersonic maiden test flight lasted approximately 43 minutes and saw the aircraft reach Mach 1.1 at an altitude of 9.5 km.
New ICON A5 Amphibious Light Sport Plane
Light sport aircraft manufacturer, ICON Aircraft, introduced their innovative new airplane, the ICON A5, at a private function in Los Angeles on 11 June 2008. The two-seat amphibious plane, which some have dubbed as being a combination jet-ski, sports car and airplane, will certainly appeal to the weekend aviator.
