China Aviation Industry Corporation’s New ARJ21

China Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC I), a state-owned company based in Shanghai, is currently assembling a 70 to 90 seat passenger jet with high hopes of using this new airplane to establish China in the world market as a major airplane manufacturer. The new airplane has been named the ARJ21 – Advanced Regional Jet for the 21st Century. The first test flight is expected to take place in March 2008.

Russia’s New Superjet 100

The 95-seater “Superjet 100airplane, manufactured by Russian state-owned company Sukhoi Aviation Company, was unveiled at an elaborate ceremony attended by more than 1,000 foreign and Russian officials and executives including the deputy prime minister, Sergei Ivanov. After speeches by Ivanov and other VIPs, a large screen was lifted to reveal the red, white and blue Superjet 100 emerging from swirls of dry-ice clouds, accompanied by stirring music. The Superjet 100 is the first Russian built passenger jet that has been produced since the collapse of the Soviet Union and is seen as a milestone in moving toward reviving an aircraft industry that at one time was among the world’s most productive.

Bombardier’s Global Vision Flight Deck

Aircraft manufacturer, Bombardier is raising standards in cockpit design and technology with the release of its new Global Vision flight deck, which is to be used in the Global 5000 and Global Express XRS airplanes. London Air Services, a leading charter service provider, will be the first customer to receive aircraft fitted with the Global Vision flight deck.

Young Eagles Program Provides Unique Opportunities

The Young Eagles Program was started in 1992 by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), which is based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The aim of the EAA Young Eagles Program is to give young people (between ages of 8 and 17) the opportunity to see the world from a whole new perspective and experience the wonders of the freedom of flight – free of charge.
