Section of I-70 Named for Tuskegee Airmen - Airplanes
A section of I-70 near downtown Denver has been named the Tuskegee Airmen Memorial Highway, in honor of the first African-American military pilots, many of whom now live in Colorado. During the dedication ceremony held in Denver's state capitol on April 12, 2006, several of the surviving airmen were present. Lawmakers honored the men's courage both in combat, and for the racial barriers they fought.
Evergreen Aviation Museum - Airplanes
Evergreen Aviation Museum is located in McMinnville, Oregon and houses various aviation exhibits as well as more than 50 historical aircraft. The museum is now the home of Howard Hughes' infamous "Spruce Goose." The Hughes Flying Boat, H-4, HK-1 dwarfs the adjacent static displays of other aircraft. California Town Receives Approval for Aerobatics Box - Airplanes
The Federal Aviation Administration has approved a waiver for an aerobatics box in south Tracy, California, about 1,000 feet south of the previous box that expired in 2004. It is thought that this new location will appease residents who complained that the noise from the aerobatic planes was extreme. The new permit expires in December of 2008.
Unmanned SkyTote is Hybrid of Helicopter and Fixed Wing Aircraft
The Air Force Research Laboratory is creating a new unmanned aircraft that will perform vertical take offs and landings like a helicopter, but fly horizontally at high speed. The cyclic controlled counter-rotating rotors generate propulsion for the craft, similar to a helicopter. In horizontal flight, the rotor system works like a conventional propeller. The aircraft’s role will be to determine bomb damage, evacuate troops, and conduct resupply missions. When in hover mode, the SkyTote can achieve 200 knots, about twice that of a conventional helicopter with a similar payload, and has a 52-horsepower engine.

Banquet rooms, including the Doolittle Room and the Tuskegee Ballroom accommodate several hundred people for special events. Imagine having your wedding ceremony held on the Red Baron Patio! Request a window seat and watch the jets land at LAX.
