The Great New England Air Show This September

The Westover Air Force Reserve Base is the largest of its kind in the country and is home to the 439th Airlift Wing, which is an Air Force Reserve Command unit. Here the staff operates sixteen C-5A and C-5B aircraft and there are approximately two thousand five hundred reservists with the 439th Airlift Wing at Westover Air Force Base. In honor of their sixtieth anniversary celebrations, the Westover Air Force Base will be hosting The Great New England Air Show on the 6th and 7th of September 2008, an aerial extravaganza filled with wonderful activities and attractions that should not be missed.

The Great New England Air Show has a magnificent line-up for the weekend, including spectacular and breathtaking performances by the Golden Knights, US Navy F/A -18 Super Hornet Demo Team, US Marine Corps AV-8 Harrier Demo Team, US Navy Legacy Flight, Sprit of America, USAF B-2 Flyby, USAF Heritage Flight, USAF Academy Sailplane Demo Team, the Thunderbirds, US ANG A-10 Thunderbolt CSAR Demo, USAF Reserve C-5B Galaxy Demo, USAF Reserve C-130 Hercules Flyby, USAF Reserve C-17 Globemaster Flyby, USAF Reserve KC-135R Stratotanker Flyby, USAF Reserve KC-10 Extender Static, USAF Reserve MH-60G Pave Helicopter CSAR Demo, CT National Guard CH-47 Chinook Helicopter CSAR Demo, USAF V-22 Osprey Static Display, E-3A AWACS Static Display, C-21 Learjet Flyby Static Display, USAF Reserve Bi-Plane Aerobatic Demo, Shockley’s Jet Truck Performance, Third Strike and Rob Holland Ultimate Air Shows Performer.

Visitors to this fantastic air show will also be able to see beautifully restored aircraft at the show, including the US Marine Bird Dog and the US Navy Stearman. These wonders from the past will also be in action in the skies and on the ground, as demonstrations will be given that are guaranteed to be memorable. Tora Tora Tora Pyrotechnical displays will be lighting up the skies and offering additional entertainment to the already thrilling list of performances.

As The Great New England Air Show will be held at an active Air Force Base, visitors are reminded that strict security will be enforced and that items such as glass, cans, weapons, alcohol, tents, bicycles, skateboards, roller skates or blades, pets, awnings and cooler bags will not be permitted. Small coolers to carry infant formula and medicine will be allowed, as well as camera bags and backpacks. It is set to be an amazing family event with attractions and activities to suit everyone’s taste.
