Odessa International Airport - Odessa
The Odessa International Airport can be found in Odessa in Ukraine and was built in 1961 and provides both domestic and international flights. Odessa is considered the fourth biggest city in the whole of the Ukraine and is also an important port on the Black Sea. There are about 1,012,500 million people in Odessa all of which have access to the Odessa international Airport giving them necessary flights within and out of the country. The Airport code that has been given to Odessa is ODS and the World Area Code is 488.
The airports elevation above mean sea level is 172 feet or 53 meters. The airport has two runways the one has a length of about 9186 feet or 2799 meters long and is part concrete where as the other is 1815 feet or 553 meters long and is totally grass. These runways are co-used by the countries Air Force. The longitude of Odessa airport is 30 degrees 37'0"E and a latitude of 46 degrees 30'0"N. The Odessa International Airport is a public airport and its official ICAO code is UKOO.
The city Odessa was once occupied by an early Greek colony, which was easily identified by the numerous monuments and remains that originate with the Eastern Mediterranean. In the 14th century the Crimean Tatars regularly traded there and then many centuries later Odessa was captured by Russia in the late 18th century Russian-Turkish wars. Since 1858 Odessa has been a free port and is now also a free economic zone at least for the next twenty-five years.
The Odessa trade seaport was a very important trade port for the U.S.S.R during the Soviet period but now has very little military interference. Odessa seaport is considered a warm water port and so are its counterparts Yuzhny, an international oil terminal, and Illichivs'k all of which symbolize a very important transportation junction. The beautiful architecture that can be found in Odessa has a taste of the Mediterranean, not as one would expect considering it is a Russian city. Odessa is a lovely city to visit for any visitors who fly into the country via the Odessa International airport especially with its ability to tolerate and accept people from varying countries and backgrounds.
